Tonic Futures
Mental health support for the next generation in music.
Tonic Futures is a new online programme from the registered charity, Tonic Music, providing mental health support to young adults (aged 18 to 25 years) engaged with music-orientated youth projects and colleges.
As part of the programme, Tonic Futures is providing 63 young adults from Beacons Cymru, BIMM University and Roundhouse Trust a 12-month package of free therapeutic sessions, peer groups and preventative workshops.

Participants will be required to attend at least one of the 7 Peer Support Groups that will run through the 12 month period.
The purpose of the Peer Support Groups is to provide an open, confidential and non-judgemental space for young adults to share their experiences with others similarly at the start of their career in music.
Each session is 90 minutes and will be held on the same day and at the same time, will run for six consecutive weeks and is facilitated by a qualified Tonic Music psychotherapist with significant experience working in the music industry. Each group will consist of up to 9 participates from across the 3 organisations.

Each participant will be required to attend 7 online preventative workshops across the 12 months.
These workshops equip participants with mental health skills to support themselves, their peers and the wider music industry. Run every seven weeks with three days/time options available. Each workshop will be consist of up to 21 participates from across the 3 organisations.

Tonic Futures requires all prospective participants to complete tan online registration form prior to participating in the programme (link below).
The registration form consists of the following sections: contact details; music background; service provision; health and wellbeing; and demographic information. Questions in the ‘Health and Wellbeing’ section ask you about your health and wellbeing, including formal diagnoses of mental health disorders, experiences of self-harm and/or suicide attempts, and any other health conditions such as learning differences, neurodiversity and sensory impairments.
Alongside these questions, you will be asked to complete brief psychometric indicators of anxiety, depression and mental health wellbeing. All data collected from the registration form is protected under the UK General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). At the end of the registration form, the prospective participant is asked whether they consent to Tonic Music processing the data provided.
Consultation
All registered participants will need to book a 1-to-1 online consultation appointment with a member of the Tonic Futures team, via weblink provided by the youth project or college.
This consultation appointment lasts approximately for 60 minutes and is a requirement for all registered participants. The consultation appointment is not a clinical assessment, but includes an opportunity for you to discuss past experiences or present concerns around mental health and wellbeing to ensure any additional or unmet needs can be addressed. Staff are trained to signpost and refer participants to appropriate external support, if and when required.
