Tonic Rider attended two important music industry events in London this week.
On Monday, 10th October, the Tonic Rider team attended Music Minds Matter’s ‘Mental Health in Music: Leading Positive Change’ event at Abbey Road Studios. Nemone (BBC Radio 6 Music) hosted a series of panels and interviews featuring Alexis Taylor (Hot Chip) and leading figures working in mental health and music, alongside talks from James Ainscough, Peter Leathem and Silvia Montello.
The event highlighted initiatives and services providing support to people working in music, thoughts on the areas which still need improving, and ideas for what can be done to better support mental health across the music scene.
On Tuesday, 11th October, the Tonic Rider team attended Independent Venue Week’s 10th Anniversary launch event at Lafayette London. Following a spectacular performance by Nuha Ruby Ra, Steve Lamacq (BBC Radio 6 Music) spoke to leading figures working in the grassroots live music scene, alongside presenting video messages from newly announced IVW ambassador, Phillip Selway, and long-time IVW supporter, Big Jeff Johns.
The event celebrated independent music venues and the people that work in them, which will continue when Independent Venue Week returns 30th January to 5th February 2023.
We would like to thank both James Ainscough and Sybil Bell for inviting the Tonic Rider team to these events.
