Denise Black

Please give a warm welcome to Denise Black – Tonic Ambassador.

Denise Black

We are very excited to announce the latest addition to Team Tonic – Denise Black.

Denise joins the team as a Tonic Ambassador, having already supported Tonic previously. On 7th November 2019, the Tonic Ska Choir performed at a screening of The Last Tree at No6 Cinema in Portsmouth Historic Dockyard, with proceeds being donated to Tonic. Denise starred in the film and attended the screening in support of the Ska Choir.

Denise, who attended Portsmouth High School for Girls, is a successful actress, probably best known as hairdresser Denise Osbourne in Coronation Street – a role she played from 1992 to 1997, with comebacks in 2007 and 2017. She has also had leading roles in Emmerdale and Bad Girls, and appeared in many television series, including The Bill, A Touch of Frost and Casualty. Denise is well known for her portrayal of Hazel in iconic Channel 4 series ‘Queer as Folk’.

Denise said, “I hit the floor more than once in lockdown, but I got lucky. Someone picked me up. Music lights the way, I know that. It raises your spirits, it gives you strength. Fact. And music at a community level has the power to move mountains. What Tonic does is just amazing so please don’t feel alone. Come and make music, it’s never too late.”
